MORNING PEARLS
︎photography
These happened by a stroke of luck, being in the fog at the right time of the year—a late summer morning after some calm days without strong winds and still warm enough for outdoor insect activity. I went out quite early, excited about the possibility of some urban misty shots, but was surprised by a quite unusual spectacle. Hundreds of webs bathed in heavy condensation drops that looked like abstract geometric sculptures, most of them hanging in canal bridges, which allowed for the uniform grey background as the fog was quite thick in the open space around.
Semi-destroyed by the erosion of the elements, the webs function as water vapour condensation lines and accumulate dew drops in geometric arrangements that are both a memory and a metaphor of life’s beauty and ephemeral nature.
