The creative process of any work can go many different ways – planned, as well as unexpected – and RED is proof of this. The program consists of two works entitled RED and 32 Variations, created by the Swedish choreographer, Örjan Andersson, together with the dancers of Danish Dance Theatre. RED is part of a trilogy that has the same name as Shostakovich’s melancholy string quartets, numbers 8, 10 and 11. Örjan Andersson has chosen to give each of these choreographies the name of a colour, which he believes reflects the music. RED is based on String Quartet No. 8 and is danced by Danish Dance Theatre’s international dancers.Copenhagen, September 2015.
